The New York Yankees defeated the
Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday night. The
game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score
was 4-3. Domingo German started for the
Yankees and pitched well and the bullpen was great. Aaron Judge had two hits and Gleyber Torres
the big hit to lead the offense.
German won his first game of the
season pitching six innings and giving up five hits and three runs with two
walks and ten strikeouts. Chad Green
pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, Dellin Betances
pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two and Aroldis Chapman
saved his 19th game of the season pitching a perfect inning with two
strikeouts.
Blake Snell pitched five innings
giving up five hits and four runs with four walks and eight strikeouts and he
lost his fourth game of the season.
Vidal Nuno pitched three innings giving up a hit and he struck out
three.
Aaron Hicks had a hit and an RBI,
Judge had two hits and Gary Sanchez drew two walks. Torres had a hit and three RBI, Miguel
Andujar had a hit and Tyler Austin had a hit and drew a walk. Ronald Torreyes drew a walk, Andujar hit a
double and Hicks and Torres each hit a homerun.
The Yankees were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men
on base. Sanchez committed an error and
Stanton had an outfield assist.
Matt Duffy had two hits and an RBI,
Jake Bauers drew a walk and Wilson Ramos had a hit, an RBI and drew a
walk. Joey Wendle had a hit and an RBI,
Willy Adames had a hit and Carlos Gomez had a hit. Johnny Field drew a walk, Gomez hit a double
and Duffy hit a homerun. The Rays were
2-4 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. Wendle had a stolen base and Gomez was caught
stealing.
In the first Duffy hit a solo
homerun to give the Rays a 1-0 lead. In
the third Ramos hit an RBI single to make it 2-0. In the fifth Hicks hit a solo homerun to cut
the lead to 2-1. Torres hit a three-run
homerun to give the Yankees a 4-2 lead.
In the sixth Wendle hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 4-3 and that
would be the final score.
The two teams will play game two of
four on Friday night. Jonathan Loaisiga
will make his MLB debut coming up from AA Trenton for the Yankees.
