New York Mets are defeated by the Miami Marlins

The New York Mets were defeated by the Miami Marlins on Friday night.  The game took place at Marlins Parks in Miami, Florida and the final score was 8-2.  Corey Oswalt started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch well.  Jose Bautista led the offense with two hits. 

Oswalt pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up six hits and six runs with two walks and a strikeout and he lost his first game of the season.  Chris Beck pitched to one batter and retired him, Tyler Bashlor pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with two strikeouts and Jerry Blevins pitched 1 1/3 innings with a strikeout.  Drew Smith pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run.

Sandy Alcantara pitched five innings giving up three hits and a run with five walks and two strikeouts and he won his first game of the season.  Drew Rucinski pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, Ben Meyer pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with two walks and a strikeout and Brad Ziegler pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one.  Kyle Barraclough pitched an inning with a walk and he struck out two. 

Brandon Nimmo had a hit and drew a walk, Bautista had two hits and drew a walk and Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit.  Michael Conforto drew a walk, Wilmer Flores had a hit and drew a walk and Todd Frazier had a hit and drew a walk.  Devin Mesoraco had a hit and an RBI, Amed Rosario drew three walks and Kevin Plawecki drew a walk.  Bautista and Mesoraco each hit a double and the Mets were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  Frazier was picked off. 

Derek Dietrich drew two walks, Brian Anderson had a hit and J.T. Realmuto had a hit and an RBI.  Justin Bour had a hit, Starlin Castro had two hits and an RBI.  JT Riddle had two hits and three RBI, Miguel Rojas had an RBI and Lewis Brinson had three hits and an RBI.  Cameron Maybin had a hit and an RBI, Brinson hit a double and Brinson and Riddle each hit a homerun.  The Marlins were 4-5 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Castro had a stolen base and Riddle committed an error.  Realmuto was picked off.

In the third Brinson hit a solo homerun giving the Marlins a 1-0 lead.  Realmuto hit an RBI single to push the lead to 2-0, Castro hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 3-0.  Riddle hit a three-run homerun to make it a 6-0 game.  In the fourth Mesoraco hit an RBI double and the lead was caught to 6-1.  In the bottom of the sixth Maybin hit an RBI single to push the lead to 7-1.  In the eighth Flores hit into a double play but a run scored to cut the lead to 7-2.  In the bottom of the eighth Rojas hit a sac fly to make it 8-2 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday.
