New York Yankees even their series with the Atlanta Braves with a victory


The New York Yankees defeated the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 8-5.  Domingo German started for the Yankees and he pitched ok.  Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton led the offense with two hits each. 

German pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up six hits and three runs.  He walked three and struck out six.  A.J. Cole won his third game of the season pitching 1 2/3 innings and giving up a hit and he struck out four, Adam Warren pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up four hits and two runs with a strikeout and Chasen Shreve retired the only two batters he faced and struck out one.  Aroldis Chapman saved his 24th game of the season pitching a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts. 

Sean Newcomb pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up three hits and five runs with five walks and two strikeouts and lost his third game of the season.  Luke Jackson pitched three innings giving up four hits and a run with a walk and five strikeouts and Evan Phillips pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up a hit and two runs with two walks and a strikeout. 

Brett Gardner had a hit and drew a walk, Judge had two hits and drew a walk and Stanton had two hits and two RBI.  Aaron Hicks had a hit, two RBI and drew two walks, Miguel Andujar had a hit and drew a walk and Brandon Drury had an RBI and drew a walk.  Kyle Higashioka had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Neil Walker drew a walk and Gardner and Andujar each hit a double.  Hicks, Higashioka and Stanton each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-11 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Judge had two stolen bases. 

Ender Inciarte had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Ozzie Albies had two hits and an RBI and Freddie Freeman had a hit.  Nick Markakis had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Kurt Suzuki had a hit and Ronald Acuna Jr. had a hit.  Johan Camargo had a hit and drew a walk, Dansby Swanson had a hit and Inciarte, Albies and Markakis each hit a homerun.  The Braves were 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Inciarte had a stolen base. 

In the first Hicks hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the second Higashioka hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 3-0.  In the third Drury drew an RBI walk and it was 4-0, Higashioka drew an RBI walk to extend the lead to 5-0 and a wild pitch made it 6-0.  In the fifth Inciarte hit a two-run homerun and the lead was cut to 6-2.  Albies hit a solo homerun to make it 6-3.  In the seventh Markakis hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 6-5.  In the eighth Stanton hit a two-run homerun to push the lead to 8-5 and that was the final score. 

The two teams will play the rubber game of the three game series on Wednesday afternoon.
