The New York Mets were defeated by the
Miami Marlins on Saturday. The game took
place at Marlins Park in Miami, Florida and the final score was 5-2. Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he
pitched well. The Mets offense managed
six hits and no one had more then a hit.
deGrom lost his fourth game of the
season and he pitched six innings giving up six hits and three runs with a walk
and eight strikeouts. Robert Gsellman
pitched an inning giving up two hits and two unearned runs with a strikeout and
Anthony Swarzak pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.
Pablo Lopez pitched six innings
giving up six hits and two runs with a walk and five strikeouts. Lopez won his first game of the season. Adam Conley pitched a perfect inning, Drew
Steckenrider pitched an inning with two strikeouts and Kyle Barraclough pitched
a perfect inning with two strikeouts and earned his eighth save of the
season.
Jose Bautista had a hit and an RBI,
Michael Conforto had a hit and Wilmer Flores had a hit. Todd Frazier had a hit and an RBI, Devin
Mesoraco had a hit and Amed Rosario had a hit and drew a walk. Flores hit a double and Bautista and Frazier
each hit a homerun. The Mets were 0-4
with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. Rosario committed an error.
Derek Dietrich had a hit, Brian
Anderson had a hit and two RBI and J.T. Realmuto had a hit and two RBI. Justin Bour drew a walk, Starlin Castro had
three hits and JT Riddle had a hit and an RBI.
Lewis Brinson had a hit, Cameron Maybin had a hit and Realmuto hit a
double and Anderson hit a homerun. The
Marlins were 2-5 with runners in scoring position and left five men on
base. Castro and Riddle each had a
stolen base.
In the first Bautista hit a solo
homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead. In
the sixth Frazier hit a solo homerun to push the Mets lead to 2-0. In the bottom of the sixth Anderson hit a
two-run homerun to tie the game at two.
Riddle hit an RBI single and it was 3-2 Marlins. In the seventh Realmuto hit a two-run double
to push the lead to 5-2 and that would be the final score.
The Marlins will go for the
three-game sweep on Sunday afternoon.
