The New York Yankees were defeated by the
Boston Red Sox on Saturday night. The
game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score
was 11-0. Sonny Gray started for the
Yankees and he didn’t pitch well. The
Yankees offense only produced two hits.
Gray pitched 2 1/3 innings giving
up seven hits and six runs with two walks.
Gray lost his sixth game of the season.
Adam Warren pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up two hits and he struck out
four, Giovanny Gallegos pitched two innings giving up four hits and three runs
with a walk and three strikeouts and Jonathan Holder pitched an inning giving
up two hits and a run. Chasen Shreve
pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts.
Chris Sale won his eighth game of
the season pitching seven innings and giving up a hit and no runs. He walked one and struck out 11. Heath Hembree pitched an inning with a walk
and a strikeout and Hector Velazquez pitched an inning giving up a hit.
Giancarlo Stanton had a hit,
Gleyber Torres had a hit and Austin Romine drew a walk. Brett Gardner drew a walk and the Yankees
were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. Judge had an outfield assist.
Mookie Betts had two hits and drew
two walks, Andrew Benintendi had a hit and an RBI and J.D. Martinez had three
hits and three RBI. Mitch Moreland drew
a walk, Xander Bogaerts had two hits and Rafael Devers had five hits and four
RBI. Brock Holt had a hit and an RBI, Sandy
Leon had two hits and two RBI and Jackie Bradley Jr. had a hit. Leon, Devers and Betts each hit a
double. Devers and Leon each hit a
homerun. The Red Sox were 7-15 with
runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. Benintendi and Bradley Jr. each had a stolen
base.
In the first Devers hit a grand slam
giving the Red Sox a 4-0 lead. In the
second Benintendi hit an RBI single, J.D. Martinez hit a sac fly and it was 6-0
Red Sox. In the sixth Martinez hit an
RBI single to push the lead to 7-0. In
the seventh Leon hit a two-run homerun to extend the lead to 9-0. In the eighth Martinez hit an RBI single
pushing the lead to 10-0 and the scoring was wrapped up with a Holt RBI single
in the ninth to make it 11-0 which was the final score.
The two teams have split the first two games and
will play the rubber game on Sunday ni
