The New York Yankees defeated the
Boston Red Sox on Sunday night. The game
took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was
11-1. Luis Severino started for the
Yankees and he pitched very well. Aaron
Hicks and Aaron Judge each had three hits to lead the offense.
Severino pitched 6 2/3 innings giving
up two hits and no runs. He walked three
and struck out six and won his 13th game of the season. David Robertson pitched a perfect inning with
two strikeouts, Dellin Betances pitched 2/3 of an inning striking out one and
Aroldis Chapman pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run.
David Price lost his sixth game of
the season pitching 3 1/3 innings giving up nine hits and eight runs with no
walks and three strikeouts. Justin Haley
pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up four hits and a run with two walks, Brandon
Workman pitched a perfect inning and Hector Velazquez pitched an inning giving
up three hits and two runs with a walk.
Hicks had three hits, four RBI and
drew a walk, Judge had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Giancarlo Stanton
had two hits. Brandon Drury had a hit,
Didi Gregorius had a hit and an RBI and Neil Walker had a hit and an RBI. Gleyber Torres had a hit, three RBI and drew
a walk, Miguel Andujar had two hits and Kyle Higashioka had a hit and an
RBI. Brett Gardner had a hit, Gregorius
and Stanton each hit a double and Judge, Torres and Higashioka each hit a homerun
and Hicks hit three homeruns. The
Yankees were 2-10 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on
base.
Mookie Betts drew a walk, Andrew
Benintendi had a hit and J.D. Martinez drew a walk. Mitch Moreland had a hit, Sandy Leon had a
hit and Blake Swihart had a hit. Rafael
Devers had an RBI, Jackie Bradley Jr. drew a walk and Leon hit a double. The Red Sox were 1-3 with runners in scoring
position and left six men on base.
Benintendi had a stolen base.
In the first Judge hit a solo
homerun, Torres hit a three-run homerun and it was 4-0 Yankees. In the second Hicks hit a two-run homerun to
push the lead to 6-0. In te fourth
Higashioka had his first major league hit and it was a homerun to extend the
lead to 7-0. Hicks hit a solo homerun
for his second of the game to make it 8-0 and Gregorius hit a sac fly making it
9-0. In the eighth Hicks hit his third
home run of the game making it 10-0.
Walker hit an RBI single and it was 11-0 and in the ninth Devers hit an
RBI ground out to cut the lead to 11-1 and that would be the final score.
The Yankees took two out of three
and will now play a three-game series at home against the Atlanta Braves.
