The New York Mets
were defeated by the Atlanta Braves on Sunday.
The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final
score was 2-1. Steven Matz started for
the Mets and he pitched well. J.D. Davis
had two hits to lead the offense.
Matz pitched six innings
giving up two hits and a run with a walk and six strikeouts. Matz lost his eighth game of the season. Paul Sewald pitched two innings giving up a
hit and a run with four strikeouts and Justin Wilson pitched an inning with a
walk and two strikeouts.
Dallas Keuchel
won his fifth game of the season pitching seven innings and giving up four hits
and no runs. He walked three and struck
out seven. Sean Newcomb pitched an
inning and Mark Melancon pitched an inning giving up three hits and a run and
he saved his sixth game of the season.
Amed Rosario had
a hit, Pete Alonso had a hit and Michael Conforto had a hit. Davis had two hits and drew a walk, Todd
Frazier had a hit and an RBI and Juan Lagares drew a walk. Wilson Ramos had a hit, Rene Rivera drew a
walk and Alonso hti a double. The Mets
were 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.
Freddie Freeman
drew a walk, Josh Donaldson had two hits and two RBI and Adam Duvall had a
hit. Tyler Flowers drew a walk, Duvall
hit a double and Donaldson hit two homeruns.
The Braves were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left three men
on base. Duvall committed an error.
In the second
Donaldson hit a solo homerun to give the Braves a 1-0 lead. In the seventh Donalson hit a solo homerun
pushing the Braves lead to 2-0. In the
ninth Frazier hit an RBI ground out to cut the lead to 2-1 but that would be
the final score.
The Mets were
swept in the three-game series and will be off on Monday before beginning a
three-game series with the Chicago Cubs at home on Tuesday night.
