Yankees lose a great game at the Dodgers

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday evening.  The game took place at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California and the final score was 2-1.  CC Sabathia started for the Yankees and he pitched well and the bullpen pitched well.  Aaron Judge was the Yankees only offense with a solo homerun.

Sabathia pitched four innings giving up five hits and two runs.  He walked one and struck out seven.  Sabathia took his eighth loss of the season.  Cory Gearrin pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit, Chad Green pitched two perfect innings with four strikeouts and Adam Ottavino pitched 1/3 of an inning with a walk.  Zack Britton pitched an inning with a strikeout.

Tony Gonsolin won his second game of the season pitching five innings and giving up two hits and a run with two walks and two strikeouts.  Joe Kelly pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts, Pedro Baez pitched 1 1/3 innings with three strikeouts and Kenley Jansen saved his 27th game of the season.  He pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out three.

DJ LeMahieu drew a walk, Judge had a hit and an RBI and Gleyber Torres had two hits and drew a walk.  Brett Gardner had a hit, Mike Tauchman drew a walk and Austin Romine had a hit.  Judge hit a homerun and the Yankees were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.

A.J. Pollock had a hit and drew a walk, Justin Turner had a hit and two RBI and Will Smith had a hit and drew a walk.  Cody Bellinger had a hit, Kike Hernandez had a hit and Gonsolin had a hit.  Turner hit a homerun and the Dodgers were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Bellinger and Pollock each had a stolen base and Pollock had an outfield assist.
In the third Turner hit a two-run homerun to give the Dodgers a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth Judge hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 2-1.  The final score was 2-1 although there was some drama in the ninth.  The Yankees had 1st and second one out and a ground ball was hit to 3B, they threw to second for an out and Torres scampered home but they sent him back to third because the umps claimed time was called.  Gardner on a replay review was ruled safe at 2nd so it was bases loaded one out.  It should have been a tie game but the Yankees still didn’t do anything with the bases loaded and lost the
