New York Yankees swept the Seattle Mariners


The New York Yankees defeated the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday afternoon.  The game took place at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington and the final score was 7-3.  James Paxton started for the Yankees and he pitched well, the bullpen did their job.  Aaron Judge had three hits to lead the offense. 

Paxton pitched five innings giving up a hit and two runs with five walks and four strikeouts.  Paxton won his 11th game of the season.  Chad Green pitched two innings with a walk and three strikeouts, Adam Ottavino pitched an inning with a walk and Cory Gearrin pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout. 

Justus Sheffield lost his first game of the season pitching 4 1/3 innings giving up six hits and five runs with five strikeouts.  Matt Wisler pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout, Anthony Bass pitched an inning with a walk and two strikeouts and Wade LeBlanc pitched three innings giving up three hits and a run with two walks and three strikeouts. 

DJ LeMahieu had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Judge had three hits and two RBI and Gleyber Torres had a hit.  Gary Sanchez had two hits and two RBI, Gio Urshela had a hit and Didi Gregorius drew a walk.  Mike Ford had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Tyler Wade had a hit and Wade hit a double and Judge hit two doubles.  Sanchez, Ford, Judge and LeMahieu each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-9 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Wade had a stolen base and Ford committed an error. 

Tim Lopes drew two walks, Austin Nola drew a walk and Kyle Seager had a hit and two RBI.  Tom Murphy had a hit and drew a walk, Daniel Vogelbach drew a walk and Dylan Moore had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Keon Broxton drew a walk, Murphy hit a double and Seager hit a homerun.  The Mariners were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Broxton and Lopes each were caught stealing. 

In the first Sanchez hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth Seager hit a two-run homerun to tie the game at two.  In the fifth Ford hit a solo homerun giving the Yankees back the lead at 3-2.  LeMahieu hit an RBI single to push the lead to 4-2 and Judge hit a two-run homerun to make it a 6-2 lead.  In the ninth LeMahieu hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 7-2.  In the bottom of the ninth Moore hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 7-3 and that was the final score. 

The Yankees swept the three-game series and they will be off on Thursday.  They will begin a three-game series at home with the Oakland Athletics on Friday night.
