New York Yankees fall short in loss to Phillies

 The New York Yankees were defeated by the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday.  The final score was 6-5.

Luis Severino made his second start of the spring for the Yankees and his command was bad.  DJ 

LeMahieu led the offense with two hits.  

Severino pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up four hits and three runs with four walks.  Carson Coleman

pitched to one batter and struck him out, Greg Weissert pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and

Aroldis Chapman pitched a scoreless inning giving up a walk and striking out two.  Manny Banuelos

pitched two perfect innings with three strikeouts, Ryan Weber took the loss pitching two innings and

giving up four hits and three runs with three strikeouts.  

Aaron Judge drew three walks, Brandon Lockridge had a hit and an RBI and Anthony Rizzo had a hit.

LeMahieu had two hits and drew a walk, Marwin Gonzalez had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Isiah

Kiner-Falefa had a hit.  Kyle Higashioka had three hits and three RBI, Rodolfo Duran had a hit and Tim

Locastro had a hit.  LeMahieu, Duran and Lockridge each hit a double.  Higashioka hit two homeruns and

they were 3-13 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  Locastro, Lockridge and Rizzo

each had a stolen base.  Higashioka had a passed ball.

In the bottom of the first Matt Vierling hit a three run double giving the Phillies a 3-0 lead.  In the second

Higashioka hit a two run homer cutting the lead to 3-2.  In the fifth Gonzalez hit an RBI single tying the 

game at three.  In the sixth Higashioka hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 4-3 lead.  In the bottom of

the seventh Ethan Wilson hit an RBI single to tie the game at four.  Edgar Cabral hit an RBI single and

Ronald Torreyes hit an RBI groundout pushing the Phillies lead to 6-4.  In the eighth Lockridge hit an

RBI double cutting the lead to 6-5 and that would be the final score.
