Yankees lose a high scoring game to the Detroit Tigers

 The New York Yankees played their first home spring game on Sunday afternoon.  Luis Severino started

and he looked healthy with good velocity but his control was off and the results were not great.  He 

pitched two innings giving up four hits and four runs.  He had a walk and a strikeout, Wandy Peralta

pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Lucas Luetge pitched a perfect inning and Ryan Weber pitched 

a perfect inning.  Manny Banuelos pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Sean Boyle pitched two 

innings giving up a hit with two walks and a strikeout and Michael Gomez pitched 2/3 of an inning

giving up four hits and four runs with two walks.  He took the loss and Matt Minnick pitched to one

batter and got him out.  

Estevan Florial drew two walks, Oswaldo Cabrera had a hit and four RBI and Michael Beltre had a hit.

Giancarlo Stanton had a hit, Gleyber Torres had a hit and drew a walk and Isiah Kiner-Falefa had a hit.

Ender Inciarte had a hit and an RBI, Blake Perkins had a hit and Rob Brantly drew a walk.  Armando

Alvarez drew a walk.  Inciarte hit a double, Cabrera hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 3-10 with runners 

in scoring position and left five men on base.  Kiner-Falefa and Ryan LaMarre each had a stolen base.  

In the first Javier Baez hit an  RBI double giving the Tigers a 1-0 lead.  Spencer Torkelson hit an RBI 

single making it a 2-0 game.  In the second Robbie Grossman hit a two-run homerun pushing the lead to

4-0.  In the bottom of the fourth Kiner-Falefa stole second base and LaMarre stole home making it 4-1.

Inciarte hit an RBI double making it 4-2.  In the bottom of the fifth Beltre hit an RBI single cutting

the lead to 4-3.  In the bottom of the sixth Cabrera hit a grand slam to give the Yankees a 7-4 lead.  In the

ninth Jack Lopez hit an RBI double making it 7-5, Parker Meadows hit a two-run single tying the game 

at seven.  Kody Clemens hit an RBI single to give Detroit an 8-7 lead and that was the final score.

The Yankees are now 0-2-1 and will play the Philadelphia Phillies in Tampa on Monday afternoon.
