The New York Mets defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday afternoon. The game took place
at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-0. David Peterson started for the Mets and
pitched well. The bullpen was good and Eduardo Escobar led the offense with a couple of hits.
Peterson pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up three hits and no runs with two walks and four strikeouts.
Trevor Williams pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and striking out one, Chasen Shreve pitched
two perfect innings with two strikeouts and he won his first game of the season. Drew Smith pitched an
inning giving up a walk and he struck out one and Edwin Diaz pitched an inning with a walk and striking
out two.
Humberto Castellanos started for the Diamondbacks and he pitched four innings giving up a hit with three
walks and struck out one. Kyle Nelson pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk, Noe Ramirez pitched
2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs and took his first loss of the season. Oliver Perez
pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and Matt Peacock pitched two innings
giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout.
Jeff McNeil drew two walks, Francisco Lindor had a hit and drew a walk and Pete Alonso had a hit and
two RBI. Escobar had two hits and drew a walk, Dom Smith drew a walk and J.D. Davis had a hit and
an RBI. James McCann had a hit and an RBI, Luis Guillorme drew a walk and Escobar hit a double.
Alonso hit a homerun, the Mets were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.
McNeil and Davis each had a stolen base.
Ketel Marte had a hit and drew a walk, Carson Kelly had a hit and drew a walk and Christian Walker
had a hit. Pavin Smith had a hit, Daulton Varsho had a hit and drew a walk and Geraldo Perdomo
drew a walk. Kelly and Walker each hit a double and the Diamondbacks were 1-9 with runners in scoring
position and left nine men on base and Smith committed an error.
In the sixth Escobar hit an RBI double, Davis hit an RBI single and McCann hit a sacrifice fly to make
it 3-0. In the seventh Alonso hit a two-run homerun to push the lead to 5-0. 5-0 would be the final score.
The Mets will begin a three game series with the San Francisco Giants Monday.
