The New York Mets defeated the San Francisco Giants on Thursday. The game took place at Citi Field in
Flushing, New York and the final score was 6-2. Carlos Carrasco started for the Mets and he pitched well.
Francisco Lindor led the offense with three hits.
Carrasco won his first game of the season pitching 7 2/3 innings and giving up four hits and two runs with
seven strikeouts. Joely Rodriguez pitched to one batter and got him out and Edwin Diaz pitched an inning
with two strikeouts.
Anthony DeSclafani started for the Giants and he pitched five innings giving up nine hits and five runs
with a walk and four strikeouts. DeSclafani lost his first game of the season, Yunior Marte pitched an
inning with two walks and a strikeout and Tyler Beede pitched two innings giving up three hits and a
run with a walk and a strikeout.
Brandon Nimmo had a hit, RBI and drew a walk, Lindor had three hits and an RBI and Jeff McNeil
had a hit. Pete Alonso had two hits, Eduardo Escobar had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Mark Canha
had two hits and two RBI. Travis Jankowski drew a walk, Luis Guillorme had two hits and drew a walk.
Tomas Nido had an RBI, McNeil hit a double, Lindor and Escobar each hit a homerun. The Mets were
2-9 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. Lindor was caught stealing and Guillorme
committed an error.
Mike Yastrzemski had two hits and an RBI, Wilmer Flores had a hit and Thairo Estrada had a hit and an
RBI. Yastrzemski hit a homerun and the Giants were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left three
men on base.
In the first Lindor hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead. In the second Estrada hit an RBI
single to tie the score at one. Escobar hit a solo homerun in the second and Nido hit a sac fly giving the
Mets a 3-1 lead. In the third Canha hit a two-run single pushing the Mets lead to 5-1. In the eighth
Yastrzemski hit a solo homerun and Nimmo had an RBI single making the score 6-2 and that was the
final score. The Mets took three out of four in the series and will head to Arizona to begin a three-game
series with the Diamondbacks on Friday night.
