The Mets sweep another series as they are involved in their fourth straight sweep

The New York Mets defeated the Baltimore Orioles by the score of 4-3 on Wednesday night. The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing,NY. The Mets have now won three straight games after losing three straight. They have been involved in four straight series which were sweeps. The Mets were swept by the Yankees, then they swept the Tampa Bay Rays got swept by the Reds and now have swept the Orioles. The Mets got a good start out of Dillon Gee, the bullpen had mixed results. David Wright led the Mets offense and Wilson Betemit provided the offense for the Orioles. 
Gee pitched 7 1/3 innings giving up three hits and two runs with two walks and he struck out nine. Gee lost his fifth game of the season. Bobby Parnell pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and Frank Francisco earned his 17th save of the season pitching an inning giving up two hits and a run with two walks. Matusz lost his eighth game of the season pitching 4 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and three runs with two walks and two strikeouts. Luis Ayala pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk, Pedro Strop pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Jim Johnson pitched a perfect inning.

Andres Torres had a hit and drew a walk, Jordany Valdespin had a hit and Wright had three hits and an RBI. Scott Hairston had two hits and an RBI, Vinny Rottino drew a walk and Ike Davis had an RBI. Justin Turner drew a walk, Mike Nickeas had a hit and an RBI and Gee had a hit. Hairston had two doubles, Gee and Wright each had a double. The Mets were 3-13 with runners in scoring position and they left nine men on base. Valdespin was caught stealing.

Brian Roberts had a hit and drew a walk, Matt Wieters had a hit and Nick Johnson had two hits. Betemit had a hit and two RBI, Mark Reynolds drew a walk and Matusz had a hit. Steve Pearce had an RBI and drew two walks, Betemit hit a homerun and the Orioles were 0-5 with runners in scoring position. They left seven men on base and Jones and Betemit each committed an error.

Nickeas had an RBI single in the fourth to give the Mets a 1-0 lead. In the fifth Hairston hit an RBI double and Davis had an RBI groundout to make it 3-0 Mets. Wright had an RBI double in the sixth to push the lead to 4-0. In the eighth Betemit hit a two run homerun and in the ninth Pearce walked to make it a 4-3 game but the last out was made with the bases loaded.

The Mets improved their record to 38-32 and the Orioles record dropped to 39-30. The Mets won three straight games after losing three straight. The Mets will have off on Thursday and play the Yankees at home on Friday night for a weekend Subway Series.
