The Yankees win streak ends at ten as they fall to the Atlanta Braves

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Atlanta Braves by the score of 4-3. The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York. Hiroki Kuroda started for the Yankees and didn’t have his best stuff. He battled though and kept the Yankees in the game. The Yankees struggled once again with runners in scoring position. Tim Hudson pitched ok also and their bullpen pitched well. Jason Heyward had a very good game for the Braves. 
Kuroda pitched seven innings giving up four runs on six hits with three walks and six strikeouts. Kuroda lost his seventh game of the season. Boone Logan pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Dave Robertson pitched an inning giving up a hit and striking out one. Hudson won his fifth game of the season for the Braves. Hudson pitched five innings giving up four hits and three runs with two of them being earned. He walked five and struck out five. Chad Durbin pitched a perfect inning, Jonny Venters pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout and O’Flaherty pitched a perfect inning. Craig Kimbrel saved his 20th game of the season with a 1-2-3 easy inning. Kimbrel was very impressive.

Derek Jeter drew two walks, Curtis Granderson had a hit and Alex Rodriguez drew a walk. Mark Teixeira had a hit and drew a walk, Raul Ibanez had a hit and drew a walk and Nick Swisher had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk. Ibanez and Swisher each had a double and the Yankees were 2-11 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. Granderson had an outfield assist.

Martin Prado had a hit, Brian McCann had a hit and Freddie Freeman drew a walk. Chipper Jones had a hit, RBI and drew a walk. Heyward had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Andrelton Simmons had two hits and two RBI. Jones and McCann each had a double and Heyward had a triple. The Braves were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. Freeman and Jones each committed an error. Heyward had an outfield assist.

The Yankees got on the board first in the second inning. Swisher hit a two run double to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead. In the third Simmons had an RBI groundout to make it a 2-1 game. In the fourth Jones had an RBI double to tie the game at two. Simmons had an RBI single to give the Braves a 3-2 lead. In the bottom of the fourth Martin reached on an error and a run scored tying the game at three. In the sixth Heyward had an RBI single to give the Braves a 4-3 lead. The Braves were able to hold on to the 4-3 lead.

The Yankees winning streak came to an end at ten. The Yankees and Braves will play the rubber game of their three game series on Wednesday afternoon. The Yankees will have Thursday off and then play a weekend series at Citi Field against the cross town rival the New York Mets. The Yankees record dropped to 41-26 and the Braves record improved to 36-32.
