The New York Mets lose to the Los Angeles Dodgers



The New York Mets were defeated by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 4-3.  Jake deGrom started for the Mets and pitched pretty well, Juan Lagares, David Wright and Wilmer Flores each had three hits. 

deGrom pitched six innings giving up four hits and three runs.  He walked three walks and struck out four and lost his second game of the season.  Carlos Torres pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Jeurys Familia pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and Scott Rice faced one batter and retired him.  Jennry Mejia pitched a perfect inning. 

Hyun-Jin Ryu won his fourth game of the season pitching six innings and giving up nine hits and two runs with a walk and nine strikeouts.  Brandon League pitched an inning giving up two hits, Brian Wilson pitched an inning giving up a hit and Kenley Jansen saved his 13th game of the season pitching an inning giving up a hit and a run and struck out one. 

Lagares had three hits, Daniel Murphy had a hit and an RBI and Wright had three hits.  Chris Young drew a walk, Curtis Granderson had a hit and Eric Campbell had a hit and two RBI.  Flores had three hits, deGrom had a hit and Wright hit a double.  Lagares hit a triple and Campbell hit a homerun.  The Mets were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. 

Yasiel Puig had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Hanley Ramirez had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Adrian Gonzalez had a hit and an RBI.  Matt Kemp had a hit, A.J. Ellis drew two walks and Chone Figgins had a hit.  Kemp and Figgins each hit a double and Ramirez, Puig and Gonzalez each hit a homerun.  The Dodgers were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Ramirez was caught stealing.

In the second Gonzalez hit a solo homerun to give the Dodgers a 1-0 lead.  In the sixth Puig and Ramirez hit back-to-back solo homeruns to give the Dodgers a 3-0 lead.  In the sixth Campbell hit a two run homerun to make it a 3-2 game.  In the eighth Ramirez grounded into a force out and a run scored to give the Dodgers a 4-2 lead.  In the ninth Murphy hit an RBI groundout to bring the Mets to 4-3 but that would be the final score.  The Mets will try and avoid the sweep on Thursday night.
