The New York Yankees were defeated
by the Chicago White Sox on Thursday night.
The game took place at US Cellular Field in Chicago, Illinois and the
final score was 3-2. David Phelps
started for the Yankees and was very good.
The offense couldn't get anything going against Chris Sale who dominated
them.
Phelps pitched seven innings giving
up two runs and six hits. He walked one
and struck out eight and took his first loss of the season. Alfredo Aceves pitched an inning giving up
two hits and a run with a walk.
Chris Sale pitched six innings
giving up no runs and one hit. He walked
none and struck out ten and won his fourth game of the season. Zach Putnam pitched a perfect inning with a
strikeout, Daniel Webb pitched a perfect inning and Ronald Belisario pitched an
inning giving up two hits and two runs with one of them earned. He walked one and struck out two and picked
up his second save of the season.
Derek Jeter drew a walk, Mark
Teixeira had a hit and two RBI and Zoilo Almonte had a hit. Ichiro Suzuki had a hit. The Yankees were 1-2 with runners in scoring
position and left two men on base. Almonte
had a stolen base.
Adam Eaton had two hits and an RBI,
Gordon Beckham had a hit and Adam Dunn had a hit and an RBI. Alexei Ramirez had a hit and drew a walk,
Paul Konerko had a hit and Alejandro De Aza had a hit and an RBI. Tyler Flowers had a hit and drew a walk,
Konerko, De Aza and Beckham each hit a double.
The White Sox were 4-10 with runners in scoring position and left seven
men on base. Ramirez had a stolen base,
Flowers had a passed ball.
In the second De Aza hit an RBI
double and Eaton hit an RBI single to give the White Sox a 2-0 lead. In the eighth Dunn had an RBI single to push
the White Sox lead to 3-0. In the ninth
the Yankees scored two runs on a Teixeira two run single. The Yankees and White Sox will play game two
of four on Friday night.
