The New York Mets defeated the
Atlanta Braves on Saturday night. The
game took place at Turner Field in Atlanta, Georgia and the final score was
6-4. Noah Syndergaard started for the
Mets and pitched very well, Tyler Clippard didn't. Daniel Murphy had two hits and Travis
d'Arnaud had three hits to lead the offense.
Syndergaard pitched seven innings
giving up two hits and a run with a walk and eight strikeouts. Clippard pitched an inning giving up two hits
and three runs with a walk and a strikeout and Jeurys Familia pitched a perfect
inning with a strikeout and he saved his 40th game of the season.
Williams Perez pitched six innings
giving up eight hits and three runs with three walks and three strikeouts. Ryan Kelly pitched a perfect inning, Edwin
Jackson pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run and Arodys Vizcaino pitched
1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and he lost his first game of the season. Andrew McKirahan pitched to one batter and
walked him and Matt Marksberry pitched to two batters and retired them
both.
Curtis Granderson had a hit and
drew a walk, Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and two RBI and Murphy had two
hits. David Wright had a hit, an RBI and
drew a walk, Michael Conforto had a hit and drew a walk and d'Arnaud had three
hits and an RBI. Kelly Johnson had a
hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Wilmer Flores had
a hit and Lucas Duda drew a walk.
Murphy hit two doubles and d'Arnaud hit a double. Cespedes hit a homerun and the Mets were 3-12
with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. Conforto had an outfield assist.
Nick Markakis drew a walk, Freddie
Freeman had a hit and an RBI and Jace Peterson had a hit and drew a walk. Michael Bourn had a hit, Adonis Garcia had a
hit and three RBI and the hit was a homerun.
The Braves were 2-2 with runners in scoring position and left one men on
base.
In the first Freeman hit an RBI
single to give the Braves a 1-0 lead. In
the fourth Wright hit an RBI single to tie the game at one. Johnson drew an RBI walk to give the Mets a
2-1 lead and in the sixth d'Arnaud hit an RBI single to increase the lead to
3-1 Mets. In the eighth Cespedes hit a
solo homerun to make it 4-1 Mets. In the
bottom of the eighth Garcia hit a three run homerun to tie the game at
four. In the ninth Johnson hit an RBI
single and Cespedes reached on a fielder's choice and a run scored to make it
6-4 Mets which would be the final score.
The two teams will play the final game of the series on Sunday
afternoon.
