The New York Yankees even the Subway Series with a shutout victory over the New York Mets



The New York Yankees defeated the New York Mets on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-0 Yankees.  Michael Pineda started and pitched well and the bullpen was good.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and didn't pitch so well and the bullpen for the Mets was good.  Carlos Beltran hit a three run homerun and Brian McCann a two run homerun.  The Mets only had six hits and no batter had more than a hit. 

Pineda won his 11th game of the season pitching 5 1/3 innings giving up four hits and no runs with a walk and four strikeouts.  Justin Wilson pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a walk and striking out four, Caleb Cotham pitched to one batter and struck him out and Delllin Betances pitched an inning striking out two.  James Pazos pitched to one batter and retired him, Chris Martin pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and striking out a batter and Andrew Miller retired the only batter that he faced. 

Syndergaard pitched six innings giving up seven hits and five runs with no walks and eight strikeouts and he lost his seventh game of the season.  Sean Gilmartin pitched two innings walking one and striking out one and Bobby Parnell pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout. 

Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit, Brett Gardner had a hit and Beltran had two hits and three RBI.  McCann had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Greg Bird had a hit and Chase Headley drew a walk.  Dustin Ackley had a hit, Bird hit a double and Ackley hit a triple.  Beltran and McCann each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-9 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

Curtis Granderson had a hit and drew a walk, Daniel Murphy had a hit and drew a walk and Lucas Duda had a hit.  Michael Cuddyer had a hit, Wilmer Flores had a hit and Kelly Johnson had a hit.  The Mets were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Wright was caught stealing. 

In the first Beltran hit a three run homerun and in the sixth McCann hit a two run homerun which was all the scoring in the game.  The two teams have split the first two games of the series and will play game three which is the rubber game on Sunday night.
