The New York Mets and Atlanta
Braves played to a 3-3 tie on Saturday afternoon. The game took place at Champion Stadium in
Orlando, Florida. Jacob deGrom started
for the Mets and pitched well. Matt
Reynolds led the offense with a couple of hits.
deGrom pi9tched 6 2/3 innings
giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and five strikeouts. Addison Reed pitched to one batter and
retired him, Hansel Robles pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with
a walk and a strikeout and Zach Thornton pitched a perfect inning. Erik Goeddel pitched an inning giving up a
hit and a walk with a strikeout.
Juan Lagares had a hit and an RBI,
Kyle Johnson drew a walk and Wilmer Flores had a hit. Dominic Smith had a hit, Marc Krauss had a
hit and drew a walk and Travis Taijeron drew two walks. Reynolds had two hits and drew a walk, Gavin
Cecchini drew a walk and deGrom had an RBI.
Johnny Monell had an RBI, Reynolds hit a double and the Mets were 1-10
with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. Taijeron and Robles each committed an
error.
In the fourth Adonis Garcia
grounded into a double play and a run scored to give the Braves a 1-0
lead. In the fifth deGrom hit an RBI
groundout to tie the game at one.
Lagares hit an RBI single and it was 2-1 Mets in the fifth. In the sixth Ender Inciarte hit a sac fly to
tie the game at two and in the bottom of the eighth Jace Peterson hit a sac fly
to make it 3-2 Braves. In the ninth
Monell hit an RBI groundout to tie the game at three and that would be the
final score.
The Mets now have four tie games
this spring and their record is 7-13.
They will play at home in Port St. Lucie against a split squad
Washington Nationals team on Sunday afternoon.
