The New York Mets hitting continues there woes in loss to the Toronto Blue Jays



The New York Mets were defeated by the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday afternoon.  The game took place at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium in Dunedin, Florida and the final score was 3-1 Toronto.  Bartolo Colon started for the Mets and pitched very well.  The Mets offense only managed five hits. 

Colon pitched six innings giving up three hits and no runs with no walks and six strikeouts.  Hansel Robles pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one, Stolmy Pimentel pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Buddy Carlyle pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up three hits and three runs. 

Juan Lagares had a hit, Patrick Biondi had a hit and an RBI and Wilmer Flores had a hit.  Marc Krauss had a hit, T.J. Rivera had a hit and Krauss hit a triple.  Biondi hit a homerun and the Mets were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Lagares and Dilson Herrera were each caught stealing.  Herrera committed an error. 

In the ninth Biondi hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead and in the bottom of the ninth Ezequiel Carrera hit a three run homerun to give the Blue Jays a 3-1 victory.  The Mets record fell to 7-11 on the spring and the Blue Jays improved to 14-4, the Mets have a couple of tie games as well.  The Mets will play a split squad on Thursday afternoon.  The one game will be played in Fort Myers against the Boston Red Sox and the other will be played in Port St. Lucie against the Houston Astros.
