The New York Mets were defeated by
the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday night.
The game took place at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
and the final score was 5-4. Bartolo
Colon started for the Mets and pitched ok, the bullpen was pretty good. Neil Walker had four hits and Lucas Duda had
three hits to lead their offense.
Colon pitched six innings giving up
four hits and three runs. He walked one
and struck out four. Jerry Blevins
pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout, Addison
Reed pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout and
Antonio Bastardo pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out
two. Jim Henderson pitched an inning
giving up a hit and he struck out two, Hansel Robles pitched 2/3 of an inning
giving up two hits and a run with a walk and he took his first loss of the
season.
Jeremy Hellickson started for the
Phillies and pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up ten hits and four runs with a walk
and six strikeouts. Hector Neris pitched
2 2/3 innings giving up two hits and he struck out six, Dalier Hinojosa pitched
two innings giving up a hit and he
struck out three and Jeanmar Gomez pitched two innings giving up a hit and a
walk and he struck out two. He picked up
his second win of the season.
Curtis Granderson had two hits and
he drew a walk, Michael Conforto drew a walk and Yoenis Cespedes had two hits
and an RBI. Duda had three hits and an
RBI, Walker had four hits and Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit and an RBI. Travis d'Arnaud had two hits, Granderson,
Duda, Cabrera each hit a double and d'Arnaud hit two doubles. Cespedes and Duda hit a homerun. The Mets were 2-14 with runners in scoring
position and left 12 men on base.
Odubel Herrera had a hit and drew a
walk, Ryan Howard drew a walk and Carlos Ruiz had three hits. Freddy Galvis had two hits and two RBI, David
Lough had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Peter Bourjos had two hits and
two RBI. Lough and Galvis each hit a
double and Galvis hit a homerun. The
Phillies were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on
base.
In the second Cabrera hit an RBI
double to give the Mets a 1-0 lead. In
the second a wild pitch made it 2-0. In
the bottom of the second Galvis hit a two run homerun to tie the game at
two. In the fourth Lough hit a sac fly
to make it 3-2 Phillies. In the fifth
Cespedes hit a solo homerun to tie the game at three. Duda hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a
4-3 lead still in the fifth. In the
seventh Bourjos hit an RBI single to tie the game at four. In the 11th Bourjos hit an RBI single for the
5-4 walk-off win.
The Mets won two out of three in
the series and they will have the day off on Thursday. The Mets will begin a three game series with
the Atlanta Braves in Atlanta on Friday night.
