New York Yankees end their losing streak with win over the Tampa Bay Rays



The New York Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 6-3.  CC Sabathia started and didn't pitch very well, the bullpen was great.  Mark Teixeira had three hits and Brian McCann had three RBI. 

Sabathia pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up nine hits and three runs with three walks and two strikeouts.  Ivan Nova earned his first win of the season pitching 2 1/3 perfect innings with two strikeouts, Dellin Betances pitched a perfect inning striking out the side and Andrew Miller saved his fourth game of the season pitching a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

Matt Moore started for the Rays and pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up eight hits and four runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Moore took his first loss of the season.  Dana Eveland pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and a strikeout and Ryan Webb pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit. 

Brett Gardner drew a walk, Starlin Castro drew a walk and Carlos Beltran had a hit.  Teixeira had three hits, McCann had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk and Jacoby Ellsbury had two hits and two RBI.  Didi Gregorius had two hits, Ellsbury hit a double and McCann hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Ellsbury and Teixeira each had a stolen base and Gregorius committed an error. 

Logan Forsythe had two hits and two RBI, Brandon Guyer had a hit and an RBI and Evan Longoria had two hits.  Desmond Jennings had a hit, Steve Pearce had a hit and drew a walk and Steven Souza Jr. had a hit and drew a walk.  Tim Beckham had a hit and drew a walk, Forsythe hit two doubles and Longoria hit a double.  The Rays were 3-8 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Jennings had a stolen base.  Pearce committed an error and Souza Jr. had an outfield assist. 

In the second Forsythe hit a two run double to give the Rays a 2-0 lead.  In the bottom of the second the Yankees tied the game at two on a two run homerun.  In the fourth Guyer hit an RBI single to make it 3-2 Rays.  In the fifth Gardner drew an RBI walk to tie the game at three and in the sixth McCann hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 4-3 lead.  In the eighth Ellsbury hit a two run double to give the Yankees a 6-3 lead and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees will look to win their second in a row for the first time in about two weeks on Saturday afternoon.  They will have their ace Masahiro Tanaka on the mound.
