The New York
Yankees defeated the San Francisco Giants on Sunday afternoon. The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the
Bronx, New York and the final score was 5-2.
Nathan Eovaldi started for the Yankees and he pitched well and the
bullpen did a pretty good job. Carlos
Beltran had two hits to lead the offense.
Eovaldi pitched
6 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and two runs with two walks and six
strikeouts. He won his ninth game of the
season. Chasen Shreve pitched to one
batter and walked him and Chad Green pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up three hits
and he struck out one.
Jeff Samardzija
pitched 5 2/3 innings and giving up eight hits and five runs with a walk and
three strikeouts. He lost his sixth game
of the season and George Kontos pitched 2 1/3 perfect inning with a couple of
strikeouts.
Brett Gardner
had a hit, Beltran had two hits and an RBI and Brian McCann had a hit. Starlin Castro had a hit and an RBI, Didi
Gregorius had a hit and an RBI and Mark Teixeira had a hit and an RBI. Aaron Hicks had a hit and drew a walk,
Gregorius hit a double and Beltran and Teixeira each hit a homerun. The Yankees were 2-4 with runners in scoring
positon and left two men on base.
Angel Pagan had
three hits, Brandon Belt drew two walks and Buster Posey had two hits and two
RBI. Brandon Crawford had a hit, Conor
Gillaspie had a hit and drew a walk and Mac Williamson had two hits. Ramiro Pena had a hit, Pagan hti a double and
a triple. The Giants were 1-8 with
runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.
In the first
Beltran hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead. In the second Teixeira hit a solo homerun to
extend the lead to 2-0. In the sixth
Ellsbury hit into a double play but a run scored to make it 3-0 Yankees. In the sixth Castro hit an RBI single and
Gregorius an RBI double to push the Yankees lead to 5-0. In the seventh Posey hit a two run single to
make it a 5-2 game and that would be the final score.
