The New York
Mets defeated the Miami Marlins on Saturday evening. The game took place at Marlins Park in Miami,
Florida and the final score was 3-0.
Steven Matz started for the Mets and he pitched really well and the
bullpen did a good job. Michael Conforto
had two hits to lead the offense.
Matz pitched six
innings giving up four hits and no runs with two walks and six strikeouts. He won his eighth game of the season. Hansel Robles pitched a perfect inning with
two strikeouts, Addison Reed pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck
out one and Jeurys Familia pitched a perfect inning and saved his 35th game of
the season.
Jose Urena lost
his second game of the season pitching six innings and giving up four htis and
a run. He walked none and struck out
four. Mike Dunn pitched 2/3 of an inning
giving up a walk, David Phelps pitched to one batter and retired him and Kyle
Barraclough pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with two
walks and two strikeouts. Dustin McGowan
pitched 1 1/3 innings striking out two batters.
Jose Reyes had a
hit and an RBI, Curtis Granderson had a hit and drew a walk and Yoenis Cespedes
had a hit and an RBI. James Loney had a
hit and an RBI, Kelly Johnson drew a walk and Conforto had two hits. Juan Lagares drew a walk, Reyes hit a triple
and the Mets were 3-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on
base.
Martin Prado had
three hits and drew a walk, Christian Yelich had a hit and Giancarlo Stanton
drew a walk. Adeiny Hechavarria had a hit
and the Marlins were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on
base.
In the third
Reyes hit an RBI triple to give the Mets a 1-0 lead. In the eighth Cespedes hit an RBI single to
push the lead to 2-0 and Loney hit an RBI single making it 3-0 which would be
the final score.
The Mets won two
out of three in the series and will head home to take on the St. Louis
Cardinals beginning on Monday night.
