The New York Mets defeated the
Miami Marlins on Sunday night. The game
took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was
5-2. Noah Syndergaard started for the
Mets and he pitched well. Lucas Duda had
two hits and Michael Conforto had two RBI to lead the offense.
Syndergaard pitched seven innings
giving up five hits and two runs with one of them being earned. He walked none and struck out nine and earned
his first win of the season. Fernando
Salas pitched a perfect inning and Addison Reed pitched a perfect inning with
two strikeouts and he earned his first save of the season.
Edinson Volquez pitched six innings
for the Marlins and gave up seven hits and five runs with four of them being
earned. He walked one and struck out
seven and lost his first game of the season.
Junichi Tazawa pitched a perfect inning and Josh McGowan pitched an
inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.
Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit, Yoenis
Cespedes had a hit and Jay Bruce had a hit and an RBI. Neil Walker had a hit and an RBI, Duda had
two hits and Conforto had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk. Syndergaard had a hit, Bruce and Conforto each
hit a homerun and the Mets were 2-5 with runners in scoring position and left
five men on base. Cespedes committed an
error.
Dee Gordon had a hit and two RBI,
J.T. Realmuto had a hit and Derek Dietrich had two hits. Miguel Rojas had a hit, Dietrich and Gordon
each hit a double. The Marlins were 1-4
with runners in scoring position and left two men on base. Gordon was caught stealing and Realmuto was
caught stealing and Realmuto committed an error.
In the first Bruce reached on a
fielder’s choice and a run scored to give the Mets a 1-0 lead. Walker hit an RBI single and Conforto drew an
RBI walk to make it 3-0. In the third
Gordon hit a two-run double to cut the lead to 3-2. Bruce hit a solo homerun in the fifth to make
it 4-2. In the sixth Conforto hit a solo
homerun and it was 5-2 Mets which was the final score.
The Mets manged to salvage the final game of the
series and finished the homestand
