The New York Mets were defeated by the
Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday night. The
game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was
5-1. Matt Harvey started for the Mets
and he didn’t pitch very well. The
bullpen did their job and the offense only managed three hits.
Harvey pitched five innings giving
up eight hits and four runs with a walk and six strikeouts and took his first
loss of the season. Paul Sewald pitched
three perfect innings with five strikeouts and Hansel Robles pitched an inning
giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts.
Chase Anderson pitched 6 1/3
innings giving up two hits and a run with two walks and five strikeouts. Anderson earned his first win of the
season. Jeremy Jeffress pitched 2/3 of
an inning giving up a hit and Josh Hader pitched two perfect innings with five
strikeouts and he saved his first game of the season.
Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and an
RBI, Todd Frazier had a hit and drew a walk and Amed Rosario had a hit. Jose Lobaton drew a walk and the Mets were
1-2 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.
Lorenzo Cain had a hit, Ryan Braun
had a hit and Travis Shaw had two hits.
Domingo Santana had a hit and drew a walk, Jonathan Villar had a hit and
three RBI and Jett Bandy had two hits and an RBI. Orlando Arcia had a hit and an RBI, Shaw hit
a double and Villard, Bandy and Arcia each hit a homerun. The Brewers were 1-6 with runners in scoring position
and left five men on base. Braun had a
stolen base.
In the second Villar hit a
three-run homerun to give the Brewers a 3-0 lead. In the fourth Bandy hit a solo homerun to
push the lead to 4-0. In the sixth
Cespedes hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 4-1. In the ninth Arcia hit a solo homerun to
extend the lead to 5-1 and that would be the final score.
The two teams will play the rubber
game of the three game series on Sunday afternoon.
