The New York Yankees defeated the
Minnesota Twins on Sunday evening. The
game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score
was 4-1 in 7 1/2 rain shortened innings. Domingo German started for the
Yankees and pitched great and the bullpen did their job. Mike Tauchman hit a two-run homerun to lead
the offense.
German pitched 6 2/3 innings giving
up four hits and a run with three walks and seven strikeouts. German won his sixth game of the season. Tommy Khanle pitched to one batter and struck
him out, Adam Ottavino pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk and he struck
out one and Aroldis Chapman pitched to one batter and struck him out and saved
his seventh game of the season.
Michael Pineda pitched five innings
giving up six hits and four runs with three being earned. He walked three and struck out eight. Pineda lost his third game of the
season. Trevor May pitched an inning
with two walks and a strikeout, Matt Magill pitched a perfect inning with two
strikeouts and Fernando Romero pitched to one batter and walked him.
DJ LeMahieu had a hit and an RBI,
Gary Sanchez had a hit and drew a walk and Miguel Andujar had a hit. Gleyber Torres had a hit and drew a walk,
Brett Gardner drew a walk and Gio Urshela had a hit and drew a walk. Cameron Maybin drew a walk, Tauchman had a
hit, two RBI and drew a walk. Tauchman
hti a homerun and the Yankees were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and
left six men on base. Sanchez had a passed
ball.
Max Kepler drew a walk,Nelson Cruz
drew a walk and Eddie Rosario had a hit.
CJ Cron drew a walk, Marwin Gonzalez had two hits and an RBI and Byron
Buxton had a hit and drew a walk. The Twins were 1-6 with runners in scoring
position and left eight men on base.
Polanco committed an error and Castro had a passed ball.
In the second LeMahieu hit a
two-run single to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.
In the fourth Gonzalez hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 2-1. In the fourth Tauchman hit a two-run homerun
to push the lead to 4-1 and that would be the final score of the game.
The Yankees won the series and will now take on
the Seattle Mariners at home for a
