The New York Yankees defeated the
Seattle Mariners on Monday night. The
game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score
was 7-3. CC Sabathia started for the Yankees
and he pitched ok, the bullpen pitched well.
DJ LeMahieu, Brett Gardner and Gio Urshela each had two hits to lead the
offense.
Sabathia won his second game of the
season and he pitched five innings giving up five hits and three runs with
three walks and five strikeouts.
Jonathan Holder pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a walk
with a strikeout, Zack Britton pitched 1 1/3 innings with a strikeout and Luis
Cessa pitched an inning with two strikeouts.
Felix Hernandez lost his third game
of the season pitching five innings and giving up eight hits and seven runs
with six being earned. He walked one and
struck out two. Connor Sadzeck pitched
two innings giving up a hit and he struck out two and Chasen Bradford pitched a
perfect inning with a strikeout.
LeMahieu had two hits and an RBI,
Luke Voit had a hit and two RBI and Gardner had two hits and an RBI. Urshela had two hits and an RBI, Thairo
Estrada had a hit and two RBI and Mike Tauchman had a hit and drew a walk. LeMahieu and Tauchman each hit a double and
Gardner hit a triple. Estrada, Voit and
Gardner each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 3-3 with runners in scoring
position and left one man on base.
Tim Beckham had a hit, Edwin
Encarnacion had a hit and drew a walk and Domingo Santana had a hit, two RBI and
drew a walk. Ryon Healy had a hit and
drew a walk, Omar Narvaez drew a walk and Dee Gordon had three hits and an
RBI. Santana and Gordon each hit a
homerun and the Mariners were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left
eight men on base. Healy committed an
error.
In the first Voit hit a two-run
homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.
In the second Gardner hit a solo homerun, Estrada hit a two-run homerun
the first of his career and LeMahieu hit an RBI single to push the lead to
6-0. In the third Urshela hit an RBI
single to make it 7-0. Santana hit a
two-run homerun in the fourth to cut the lead to 7-2. In the fifth Gordon hit a solo homerun to
make it a 7-3 game. 7-3 would be the
final score.
The teams will play game two of
four on Tuesday night.
