The New York Mets are shutout by Clayton Kershaw and the Los Angeles Dodgers



The New York Mets were defeated by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 3-0 Dodgers.  Bartolo Colon started for the Mets and pitched well and the offense managed just three hits. 

Colon pitched eight innings giving up five hits and a run with no walks and four strikeouts.  Colon lost his ninth game of the season.  Sean Gilmartin pitched giving up three hits and two runs without recording an out and Carlos Torres pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two. 

Clayton Kershaw pitched a complete game giving up three hits and no runs with no walks and 11 strikeouts. 

Curtis Granderson had a hit, Wilmer Flores had a hit and Lucas Duda had a hit.  The Mets were 0-2 with runners in scoring positiona nd left two men on base.  Duda was caught stealing.

Joc Pederson had a hit, Justin Turner had a hit and Adrian Gonzalez had three hits.  Alberto Callaspo had an RBI and drew a walk, Yasmani Grandal had a hit and Yasiel Puig had an RBI.  Jimmy Rollins had a hit and an RBI, Kershaw had a hit and Rollins hit a homerun.  The Dodgers were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Kershaw had a pickoff. 

In the third Rollins hit a solo homerun giving the Dodgers a 1-0 lead.  In the ninth Callaspo had an RBI walk and Puig hit a sac fly to make it 3-0 and that would be the final score.  The two teams will play game two of four on Friday night.
