The New York Yankees are beaten by old friend Robinson Cano and the Seattle Mariners



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Seattle Mariners on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 4-3 Seattle.  Michael Pineda started and he wasn't very sharp.  The Yankees offense was led by Mark Teixeira who had two hits and Brian McCann who hit a two run homerun. 

Pineda pitched six innings giving up six hits and four runs with two walks and two strikeouts.  He lost his sixth game of the season.  Chasen Shreve pitched 1 2/3 innings striking out one and Adam Warren pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts. 

Hisashi Iwakuma pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up five hits and two runs with five strikeouts.  Iwakuma won his second game of the season.  Joe Beimel pitched to one batter and retired him, Mark Lowe pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Vidal Nuno retired the only two batters that he faced and he struck out one.  Fernando Rodney pitched to one batter and retired him and Carson Smith pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run and he struck out two and earned his seventh save of the season. 

Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit, Brett Gardner had a hit and Teixeira had two hits.  McCann had a hit and two RBI, Chase Headley had a hit and Garrett Jones had an RBI.  Didi Gregorius had a hit which was a double and Teixeira hit a double.  McCann hit a homerun and the Yankees were 0-8 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

Brad Miller had a hit, Kyle Seager had a hit and Robinson Can had three hits and four RBI.  Nelson Cruz had a hit and drew two walks, Austin Jackson drew a walk and Mark Trumbo had a hit.  Cano hit two homeruns and the Mariners were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Taylor had a stolen base and Jackson was caught stealing. 

In the first Cano hit a two run homerun to give the Mariners a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth McCann hit a two run homerun to tie the game at two.  Cano hit a two run homerun in the sixth to give the Mariners a 4-2 lead and in the ninth Jones had an RBI groundout to cut the lead to 4-3 but that would be how the game ended.  The two teams have split the first two games and the rubber game will be on Sunday afternoon.
