The New York Yankees defeated the
Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night. The
game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score
was 3-2 Yankees. Nathan Eovaldi started
for the Yankees and pitched pretty well.
The Yankees bullpen was great and Chase Headley had two hits to lead the
offense.
Eovaldi pitched 5 2/3 innings
giving up two runs on four hits. He
walked three and struck out four. Justin
Wilson pitched an inning giving up two hits and no runs with no walks and no
strikeouts, Dellin Betances pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck
out two and Andrew Miller picked up his 21st save pitching a perfect inning
with a strikeout.
Wei-Yin Chen pitched 6 1/3 innings
giving up ten hits and three runs with no walks and three strikeouts. Chen suffered his sixth loss of the
season. Tommy Hunter pitched 2/3 of an
inning giving up a hit and two walks with a strikeout and Brian Matusz pitched
an inning with a strikeout.
Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit, Brett
Gardner had a hit and Alex Rodriguez had an RBI and drew a walk. Mark Teixeira had two hits, Brian McCann had
a hit and drew a walk and Chris Young had two hits. Headley had two hits and an RBI, Didi
Gregorius had a hit and Brendan Ryan had a hit and an RBI. Ellsbury, Headley and Ryan each hit a
double. Teixeira hit two doubles and the
Yankees were 1-10 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on
base. Young had an outfield assist and Eovaldi had a
pickoff.
Manny Machado drew a walk, Jimmy
Paredes had a hit and Adam Jones had two hits.
Chris Davis had a hit, Matt Wieters had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk
and J.J. Hardy had a hit and an RBI.
Travis Snider drew a walk, Nolan Reimold had a hit and the Orioles were
2-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. Machado was picked off.
In the first Rodriguez hit a sac
fly to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead. In
the second Headley hit an RBI double to increase the Yankees lead to 2-0. In the sixth the Orioles tied the score at
two. Wieters hit an RBI single and Hardy
hit an RBI single. In the bottom of the
sixth Ryan hit an RBI double to give the Yankees the 3-2 lead and that would be
the final score. The two teams will play
game two of three on Wednesday night.
