The New York Mets were defeated by
the Detroit Tigers on Monday afternoon.
The game took place at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland, Florida and
the final score was 5-1. Matt Harvey
started for the Mets and he pitched ok.
Wilmer Flores led the offense with a couple of hits.
Harvey lost his fourth game of the
season pitching 4 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and three runs. He struck out four batters. Fernando Salas pitched 2/3 of an inning giving
up a hit and he struck out one, Josh Smoker pitched an inning giving up two
hits and a run with a strikeout and Paul Sewald pitched an inning giving up two
hits and a run with a strikeout. Alberto
Baldonado pitched an inning with a couple of walks and a strikeout.
John Mora Jr. had a hit, Michael
Conforto had a hit and Kevin Kaczmarski had a hit and an RBI. Flores had two hits, Kaczmarski hit a triple
and the Mets were 1-2 with runners in scoring position and left three men on
base. Lagares committed an error.
In the second James McCann hit a
solo homerun to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.
In the fifth Brendan Ryan hit a two-run single to give the Tigers a 3-0
lead. In the sixth JaCoby Jones hit an
RBI single to push the lead to 4-0.
Nicholas Castellanos hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 5-0. In the ninth Kaczmarski hit an RBI triple to
cut the lead to 5-1 and that would be the final score.
