The New York Mets were defeated by
the Houston Astros on Friday afternoon.
The game took place at First Data Field in Port St. Lucie, Florida and
the final score was 2-0. Noah Syndergaard
started for the Mets and he pitched well.
Jose Reyes had two hits to lead the offense.
Syndergaard pitched six innings
giving up four hits and a run with no walks and five strikeouts. He lost his first game of the spring. Fernando Salas pitched 1/3 of an inning giving
up two hits, Jerry Blevins pitched to two batters and retired them both and
Addison Reed pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout. Jeurys Familia pitched a perfect inning.
Reyes had two hits, Curtis
Granderson had a hit and John Mora Jr. had a hit. Lucas Duda drew a walk, Wilmer Flores had a
hit and Travis d’Arnaud drew a walk.
Rene Rivera drew a walk, the Mets were 1-5 with runners in scoring
position and left five men on base.
Granderson was caught stealing, Rivera and Flores each committed an
error and Mora had an outfield assist.
In the fifth Reid Brignac hit an
RBI single to give the Astros a 1-0 lead and in the eighth J.D. Davis hit a
solo homerun to make it 2-0 and that was the final score.
