The New York Yankees defeated the
Philadelphia Phillies on Friday afternoon.
The game took place at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida
and the final score was 3-2. CC Sabathia
started for the Yankees and he was ok and Luis Severino was very good. The Yankees offense had nine hits but no
player had more than a hit.
Sabathia pitched 5 1/3 innings
giving up nine hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout. Dellin Betances pitched to two batters
retiring them both and Severino picked up his second win of the spring pitching
three innings and striking out five.
Brett Gardner had a hit and an RBI,
Matt Holliday had a hit and Abiaal Avelino had a hit. Chris Carter had a hit, Wilken Castillo had a
hit and an RBI and Aaron Hicks had a hit and drew a walk. Aaron Judge had a hit, Trey Amburgey had a
hit and an RBI and Ruben Tejada had a hit.
Carter, Tejada and Castillo each hit a double. The Yankees were 2-9 with runners in scoring
position and left six men on base.
Sanchez had a passed ball and Judge an outfield assist.
In the second Freddy Galvis hit a
two-run single to give the Phillies a 2-0 lead.
In the third Gardner hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 2-1. In the ninth Castillo hit an RBI double to
tie the game at two and Amburgey hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 3-2
walk-off win.
