James Paxton puts Yankees in a hole they can't get out of

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Washington Nationals on Saturday night. 

The game took place at Nationals Park in Washington D.C. and the final score was 9-2. 

James Paxton started for the Yankees and he wasn't good at all.  Giancarlo Stanton hit another

homerun and had two hits to lead the Yankees offense. 

Paxton took the loss pitching an inning and giving up five hits and three runs with a walk and a

strikeout.  Michael King pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up four hits and four runs with two strikeouts.

Jonathan Holder pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and he struck out one, David Hale pitched

1/3 of an inning and Ben Heller pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run.  Luis Avilan pitched

an inning giving up a hit and a run. 

Erick Fedde pitched four innings giving up four hits and two runs with one being earned. 

He walked one and struck out three.  Tanner Rainey picked up the win pitching an inning with a

walk.  Ryne Harper pitched two innings giving up a hit and struck out four, James Bourque pitched

an inning giving up a hit and Kyle Finnegan pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit and an RBI, Thairo Estrada had a hit and Mike Ford had a hit.  Giancarlo

Stanton had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Aaron Hicks had a hit and Gio Urshela had a hit. 

Brett Gardner drew a walk, Urshela and Stanton each hit a double and Stanton hit a homerun.  The

Yankees were 1-10 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  King and Torres each

committed an error. 

Adam Eaton had a hit, Starlin Castro had a hit and Howie Kendrick had a hit and an RBI. 

Asdrubal Cabrera had three hits and two RBI, Kurt Suzuki had two hits and Carter Kieboom had a

hit.  Victor Robles had three hits and four RBI.  Michael Taylor had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk,

Robles, Kendrick and Cabrera each hit a double and Castro hit a triple.  Robles, Cabrera and Taylor

each hit a homerun.  The Nationals were 4-10 with runners in scoring position and left five men on

base.  Kendrick, Castro and Finnegan each committed an error.  Turner committed two errors. 

In the second Robles hit a two-run double to give the Nationals a 2-0 lead.  Turner hit into a double

play but a run scored pushing the lead to 3-0.  In the third LeMahieu hit an RBI single to make it 3-1.

In the fourth Stanton hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 3-2.  In the bottom of the fourth Robles hit

a two-run homerun pushing the Nationals lead to 5-2.  In the fifth Kendrick hit an RBI double and it

was 6-2.  Cabrera hit an RBI double to extend the Nationals lead to 7-2.  In the bottom of the seventh

Cabrera hit a solo homerun and in the eighth Taylor  hit a solo homerun to make it 9-2 and that was

the final score. 

The two teams will play the rubber game on Sunday afternoon.
