The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday night. The game took place at
Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final score was 8-6. J.A. Happ started for the Yankees
and he wasn't very good. The bullpen was pretty good and Giancarlo Stanton had three hits to lead
the offense and Luke Voit hit a grand-slam and Judge the eventual game winning three-run
homerun.
Happ pitched four innings giving up four hits and four runs with two walks and two strikeouts.
Adam Ottavino pitched an inning giving up a hit, Jonathan Loaisiga won his first game of the season
and he pitched three innings giving up a hit and two runs with two walks and four strikeouts. Zack
Britton pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts.
John Means pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up two hits and five runs with a walk and he struck out
two. Travis Lakins Sr. pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up three hits and he struck out three, Miguel
Castro pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Richard Bleier pitched 1 1/3
innings with two strikeouts. Mychal Givens pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk with
two strikeouts and Cole Sulser pitched an inning giving up two hits and three runs with a walk.
DJ LeMahieu had a hit, Judge had a hit and three RBI and Stanton had three hits, an RBI and drew
a walk. Aaron Hicks had a hit and drew a walk,Gio Urshela drew a walk and Miguel Andujar had a
hit. Stanton and Hicks each hit a double and Voit and Judge each hit a homerun. The Yankees were
3-7 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.
Austin Hays had a hit and drew a walk, Hanser Alberto had two hits and two RBI and Pedro
Severino had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk. Dwight Smith Jr. drew a walk, Pat Valaika drew a
walk and Rio Ruiz had two hits and two RBI. Alberto, Ruiz and Severino each hit a homerun and
the Orioles were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. Hays had a stolen
base.
In the first Stanton hit an RBI single and Voit hit a grand-slam to give the Yankees a 5-0 lead. In the
bottom of the first Alberto hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 5-2. In the second Ruiz hit a
two-run homerun to cut the lead to 5-4. In the eighth Severino hit a two-run homerun to give the
Orioles a 6-5 lead. In the ninth Judge hit a three-run homerun to give the Yankees a 8-6 lead and
that would be the final score. The Yankees will head home for their home opener with the Boston
Red Sox on Friday night.
