New York Yankees rough up the Baltimore Orioles

The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday night.  The game took place

at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final score was 9-3.  Gerrit Cole started for the

Yankees and he pitched very well.  The bullpen was good and DJ LeMahieu led the offense with four

hits. 

Cole pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up four hits and three runs.  He walked two and struck out seven

and won his second game of the season.  Luis Avilan pitched 1/3 of an inning and walked a guy,

Chad Green pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Brooks Kriske pitched an

inning with a walk and two strikeouts. 

Asher Wojciechowski pitched five innings giving up four hits and five runs with four earned. 

He walked two and struck out seven and took his first loss of the season.  Evan Phillips pitched

an inning giving up two hits and two runs with two walks and two strikeouts, Shawn Armstrong

pitched two perfect innings with a strikeout and Cody Carroll pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up

two hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout.  Paul Fry pitched 2/3 of an inning and had a

strikeout. 

LeMahieu had four hits and two RBI, Aaron Judge had two hits and two RBI and Gleyber Torres

drew a walk.  Giancarlo Stanton had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Aaron Hicks had a hit, two RBI

and drew a walk and Mike Ford had an RBI and drew a walk.  Gio Urshela drew a walk, LeMahieu

hit a double and had a homerun.  Judge and Hicks each hit a homerun and the Yankees were

3-8 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

Austin Hays drew a walk, Jose Iglesias had a hit and an RBI and Pat Valaika had a hit.  Renato Nunez

had a hit and drew a walk, Dwight Smith Jr. had a hit and two RBI and Pedro Severino had a hit. 

DJ Stewart drew two walks, Iglesias, Nunez and Severino each hit a double and Smith Jr. hit a

homerun.  The Orioles were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Severino

committed two errors and Hays had an outfield assist. 

In the first LeMahieu hit a solo homerun and Ford hit a sac fly to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the

bottom of the first Iglesias hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the third Judge hit a solo

homerun to push the lead to 3-1.  Hicks hit a two-run homerun to make it a 5-1 game.  In the sixth

LeMahieu hit an RBI single and Judge hit an RBI single extending the lead to 7-1.  In the bottom of

the seventh Smith Jr. hit a two-run homerun cutting the lead to 7-3.  In the ninth Stanton hit an RBI

single and a wild pitch scored a run to make it 9-3 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will complete their brief two-game series on Thursday night.
