The New York Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves on Friday. The game took place at Citi Field
in Flushing, New York and the final score was 1-0. Jacob DeGrom started for the Mets and pitched
great. The Mets bullpen pitched well and Yoenis Cespedes hit a solo homerun for the only offense.
deGrom started for the Mets and pitched five innings giving up a hit and a walk with eight strikeouts.
Seth Lugo picked up the win pitching two shutout innings and giving up a hit with three strikeouts,
Justin Wilson pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and Edwin Diaz picked up the
save pitching an inning with a walk and two strikeouts.
Mike Soroka pitched six innings giving up four hits and no runs with three strikeouts. Chris Martin
pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout and Shane Greene pitched an inning
giving up a hit.
Brandon Nimmo had two hits, Jeff McNeil had a hit and Cespedes had a hit and an RBI.
Robinson Cano had a hit, Amed Rosario had a hit, Jeff McNeil hit a double and Cespedes hit a
homerun. The Mets were 0-1 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. Ramos
had a passed ball.
Ronald Acuna Jr. had a hit, Freddie Freeman drew two walks and Marcell Ozuna had a hit.
Dansby Swanson had a hit, Ozuna hit a double and the Braves were 0-3 with runners in scoring
position and left five men on base.
In the seventh Cespedes hit a solo homerun giving the Mets a 1-0 lead and that would be the final
score. The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday.
