The New York Mets shutout the Colorado Rockies behind Matt Harvey
The New York Mets defeated the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday night. The final score was 5-0 and the game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York. Matt Harvey started and pitched his first complete game and first shutout. Wilmer Flores led the offense with two hits and three RBI.
Harvey pitched nine innings giving up four hits and no runs with any walks and six strikeouts. Harvey won his ninth game of the season.
Eric Young Jr. had a hit and drew a walk, Juan Lagares drew a walk and Daniel Murphy had a hit. Marlon Byrd had a hit, Ike Davis had a hit and drew a walk and Flores had two hits and three RBI. John Buck had two hits and an RBI, Omar Quintanilla had a hit and an RBI and Davis, Byrd and Flores each hit a double. The Mets were 3-6 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.
Jhoulys Chacin lost his sixth game of the season. He pitched seven innings giving up seven hits and two runs with a walk and five strikeouts. Manny Corpas pitched an inning giving up two hits and three runs with two walks.
Charlie Blackmon had a hit, Michael Cuddyer had a hit and Wilin Rosario had a hit. Nolan Arenado had a hit; the Rockies were 0-1 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.
Quintanilla hit an RBI single in the second to give the Mets a 1-0 lead. Buck hit an RBI single in the fourth to extend the lead to 2-0 Mets. Flores hit a three run double in the eighth to make it 5-0 Mets and that would be the final score.
The Mets record improved to 51-60 and the Rockies record fell to 52-63. The two teams will play the third and final game of the series on Thursday afternoon.
