The New York Yankees defeat the Atlanta Braves in a tight low scoring game



The New York Yankees defeated the Atlanta Braves on Saturday night.  The game took place at Turner Field in Atlanta, Georgia and the final score was 3-1 Yankees.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and pitched well and the bullpen was pretty good.  No one on offense had more than a hit but McCann and Gregorius each had an RBI. 

Severino won his second game of the season pitching six innings and giving up four hits and no runs.  He walked three and struck otu five.  Justin Wilson pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run, Dellin Betances pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a walk with two strikeouts and Andrew Miller saved his 28th game of the season.  Miller pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts. 

Matt Wisler pitched six innings giving up four hits and two runs with four walks and four strikeouts.  Wisler lost his fifth game of the season.  Matt Marksberry pitched an inning giving up a walk and striking out two, Edwin Jackson pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Arodys Vizcaino pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk. 

Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit and drew a walk, Brett Gardner drew a walk and Carlos Beltran drew two walks.  McCann had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Greg Bird had a hit and drew a walk and Chase Headley had a hit.  Gregorius had a hit and an RBI, Alex Rodriguez pinch hit and received an intentional walk and Brendan Ryan had a pinch hit.  Ellsbury, Headley, Gregorius, McCann and Ryan each hit a double and the Yankees were 1-12 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Ellsbury was caught stealing and Wilson committed an error. 

Nick Markakis had a hit, Cameron Maybin drew a walk and Freddie Freeman drew a walk.  Nick Swisher had two hits, Adonis Garcia had two hits and Jace Peterson drew two walks.  Christian Bethancourt had two hits, Andrelton Simmons had a hit and Garcia hit a double.  The Braves were 1-8 with runners in scoring positiona nd left ten men on base.  Bourn had a stolen base and Bethancourt had a passed ball. 

In the first a wild pitch scored a run and gave the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the seventh Gregorius hit an RBI double to push the lead to 2-0.  In the bottom of the seventh Gomes hit an RBI force out to cut the lead to 2-1 Yankees.  In the eighth McCann hit an RBI double to increase the lead to 3-1 Yankees and that would be the final score.  The Yankees will go for the sweep on Sunday afternoon when the series concludes.
