The Mets shutout the Miami Marlins as Bartolo Colon goes the distance



The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins on Saturday night.  The game took place at Marlins Park in Miami, Florida and the final score was 7-0 Mets.  Bartolo Colon started for the Mets and pitched great, the offense had two hits from Juan Lagares, David Wright and Travis d'Arnaud. 

Colon pitched a complete game shutout giving up nine hits and he struck out two.  Colon won his 13th game of the season. 

Brad Hand lost his fifth game of the season pitching 1 2/3 innings giving up six hits and seven runs with two walks and two strikeouts.  Andre Rienzo pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a walk, Erik Cordier pitched two innings giving up a hit and walking one, Raudel Lazo pitched an inning striking out one and Jose urena pitched a perfect inning.

Lagares had two hits and two RBI, Wright had two hits and drew a walk and Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and drew a walk.  Juan Uribe drew two walks, Travis d'Arnaud had two hits and four RBI and Wilmer Flores had a hit and an RBI.  Eric Campbell had a hit, d'Arnaud, Flores and Lagares each hit a homerun and the Mets were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Campbell was caught stealing. 

Dee Gordon had a hit, Christian Yelich had a hit and Martin Prado had a hit.  Justin Bour had two hits, Derek Dietrich had a hit and J.T. Realmuto had two hits.  Miguel Rojas had a hit, Realmuto hit a double and the Marlins were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Suzuki had an outfield assist. 

In the first d'Arnaud hit a three run homerun and Flores hit a solo homerun to give them a 4-0 lead.  In the second inning Lagares hit a two run homerun and d'Arnaud hit an RBI single to make it 7-0 Mets which would be the final score.  The two teams have split the first two games of three.  The rubber game will be tomorrow afternoon.
