The New York Yankees defeated the
Atlanta Braves on Monday night. The game
took place at Champion Stadium in Orlando, Florida and the final score was
7-4. Masahiro Tanaka started for the
Yankees and pitched well. Aaron Judge
hit a two-run triple, Austin Romine had three hits and Ryan Lavarnway had a
couple of hits.
Tanaka pitched five innings giving
up two hits and a run with two walks and seven strikeouts. Adam Ottavino pitched 2/3 of an inning giving
up two hits and three runs with two walks and two strikeouts, Stephen Tarpley
pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and he had a strikeout and Phillip
Diehl pitched an inning giving up two hits and a walk with three
strikeouts. Daniel Alvarez pitched an
inning giving up a hit and he struck out two.
Brett Gardner had a hit, Judge had
a hit and two RBI and Giancarlo Stanton drew a walk. Luke Voit had a hit and an RBI, DJ LeMahieuu
had a hit and drew a walk and Gosuke Katoh drew a walk. Romine had three hits and two RBI, Tyler Wade
had a hit and Gio Urshela drew a walk.
Lavarnway had two hits and two RBI.
Lavarnway and Wade each hit a double, Judge hit a triple and Voit hit a homerun. The Yankees were 4-10 with runners in scoring
position and left eight men on base. Urshela
and Wade each had a stolen base. Olivares
had an outfield assist and Diaz had a passed ball.
In the second Voit hit a solo
homerun giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.
Lavarnway hit a two-run single to push the lead to 3-0. In the fourth Nick Markakis hit a solo
homerun cutting the lead to 3-1. In the
fifth Judge hit a two-run triple extending the lead to 5-1 and Romine hit a two-run
single to make it a 7-1 game. In the
sixth Charlie Culberson hit an RBI single, Dansby Swanson hit a two-run single
and the lead was cut to 7-4. 7-4 would
be the final score.
The Yankees improved their spring
record to 14-6 and they will take on the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday
afternoon. The Yankees have won eight
games in a row.
