The New York Yankees defeated the Tampa
Bay Rays on Tuesday. The game took place
at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida and the final score was
6-2. Chad Green started for the Yankees
as the opener and did ok. Luis Cessa was
great out of the bullpen. Gary Sanchez
had two hits and two RBI to lead the offense.
Green pitched one inning giving up
two hits and a run with a strikeout.
Cessa pitched four innings giving up two hits and no runs and he struck
out five, Zack Britton pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with two
strikeouts and Danny Coulombe pitched two innings giving up two hits and a walk
with two strikeouts. David Sosebee
pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two walks.
Brett Gardner drew a walk, Jeff Hendrix
drew a walk and Aaron Judge had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk. Billy Burns had two hits and an RBI,
Giancarlo Stanton had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Sanchez had two hits and
two RBI. Greg Bird had a hit and an RBI,
Gleyber Torres drew a walk and Stanton hit a double. Sanchez hit two doubles and Bird hit a
homerun. The Yankees were 3-9 with
runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. Burns and Gardner each had a stolen base and
Torres had two stolen bases. Judge
committed an error.
In the first Michael Perez hit an
RBI single to give the Rays a 1-0 lead.
In the bottom of the first Sanchez hit an RBI double to tie the game at
one. In the third Judge hit an RBI
single, Stanton hit an RBI double and Sanchez hit an RBI double to give the
Yankees a 4-1 lead. In the fourth Burns
hit an RBI single to push the Yankees lead to 5-1. In the fifth Bird hit a solo homerun and the lead
was 6-1. In the ninth Mac James hit an
RBI single to cut the lead to 6-2 and that would be the final score.
The Yankees will take on the
Houston Astros on Wednesday afternoon in West Palm Beach.
