The New York Yankees were defeated
by the Houston Astros on Wednesday afternoon.
The game took place at Ballpark of the Palm Beaches in West Palm Beach,
Florida and the final score was 2-1.
Jonathan Holder started for the Yankees as the opener and pitched
well. Luke Voit had two hits to lead the
offense.
Holder pitched two innings giving
up no hits or runs with a walk. Nestor
Cortes Jr. pitched three innings giving up four hits and an unearned run with
three strikeouts, Joe Harvey pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run
with three strikeouts and Rex Brothers pitched an inning with three walks and
two strikeouts.
Gleyber Torres had a hit and drew
two walks, Voit had two hits and Greg Bird drew a walk. Zack Zehner drew a walk, Gary Sanchez had a
hit and an RBI and Thairo Estrada drew a walk.
Sanchez hit a double and the Yankees were 1-7 with runners in scoring
position and left eight men on base.
Voit had a stolen base. Clint
Frazier and Miguel Andujar each committed an error.
In the first Sanchez hit an RBI
double to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.
In the fifth Springer lined out and a run scored on a throwing error by
Andujar to tie the game at one. IN the
sixth Carlos Correa hit a solo homerun giving the Astros a 2-1 lead and that
would be the final score.
The Yankees will take on the St. Louis
Cardinals in Jupiter, Florida on Thursday afternoon.
