The New York Yankees defeated the
Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday afternoon.
The game took place at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida
and the final score was 17-7. J.A. Happ
started for the Yankees and he pitched ok, Zack Britton, Aroldis Chapman and
Jonathan Holder pitched well. Matt
Lipka, Thairo Estrada and Gio Urshela each had two hits to lead the offense.
Happ pitched three innings giving
up four hits and three runs with a walk and two strikeouts. Britton pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout,
Chapman pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and Tommy
Khanle pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout. Phillip Diehl pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up
two hits and three runs with a walk and two strikeouts, Greg Weissert pitched
2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and struck out two and Holder pitched an
inning giving up a hit.
Brett Gardner had a hit, Estevan
Florial had a hit and drew a walk and Aaron Judge had a hit and an RBI. Jorge Saez had a hit and two RBI, Giancarlo Stanton
had a hit and an RBI and Lipka had two hits and three RBI. Greg Bird had a hit and drew two walks, Brandon
Wagner had a hit and Gleyber Torres had a hit and two RBI. Estrada had two hits and an RBI, Francisco
Diaz had a hit and an RBI and Clint Frazier had a hit and two RBI. Zack Zehner had a hit and two RBI, Tyler Wade
had a hit and Gosuke Katoh had a hit.
Urshela had two hits and two RBI, Estrada, Urshela and Wade each hit a
double, Estrada and Frazier each hit a triple and Lipka, Saez, Urshela, Judge,
Torres and Zehner each hit a homerun.
The Yankees were 7-15 with runners in scoring position and left six men
on base. Florial had a stolen base.
The Yankees record improved to 11-6
and they will play a split squad on Sunday.
They will play at the Orioles and at the Phillies.
