New York Yankees defeat the San Francisco Giants for second straight win


The New York Yankees defeated the San Francisco Giants on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Oracle Park in San Francisco, California and the final score was 6-4.  J.A. Happ started for the Yankees and he pitched great.  Gio Urshela led the Yankees offense with three hits and Gary Sanchez hit a grand slam. 

Happ pitched seven innings giving up five hits and no runs.  He walked none and struck out two and won his first game of the season.  Luis Cessa pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up four hits and four runs with two strikeouts and Aroldis Chapman saved his fifth game of the season pitching to one batter and striking him out. 

Derek Holland pitched five innings giving up six hits and six runs with three walks and six strikeouts.  Holland lost his fourth game of the season.  Trevor Gott pitched two innings and he had a strikeout and Travis Bergen pitched two innings giving up two hits and he walked two and struck out one. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks, Luke Voit had an RBI and Sanchez had a hit and four RBI.  Gleyber Torres had a hit, Urshela had three hits and Brett Gardner drew a walk.  Cameron Maybin had a hit and drew two walks, Thairo Estrada had a hit and Urshela and Torres each hit a double.  Sanchez hit a homerun and the Yankees were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  LeMahieu had a stolen base. 

Tyler Austin had a hit, Brandon Belt had a hit and Buster Posey had two hits.  Yangervis Solarte had two hits and three RBI, Brandon Crawford had a hit and Gerardo Parra had a hit.  Erik Kratz had a hit and an RBI, Solarte and Kratz each hit a homerun.  The Giants were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Austin had an outfield assist. 

In the third LeMahieu hit an RBI single to give the Giants a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth Voit was hit by a pitch and the Yankees grabbed a 2-0 lead.  Sanchez hit a grand slam and the lead was pushed to 6-0.  In the ninth Solarte hit a three-run homerun and Kratz hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 6-4.  That would be the final score. 

The Yankees will look for the three-game sweep on Sunday afternoon.
