New York Mets get a boost from Noah Syndergaard in win over the Reds


The New York Mets defeated the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday afternoon.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 1-0.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and he pitched great and he also provided the only offense. 

Syndergaard pitched nine innings giving up four hits and no runs with a walk and ten strikeouts.  Syndergaard won his second game of the season. 

Tyler Mahnle pitched five innings giving up four hits and a run with no walks and seven strikeouts.  He lost his fourth game of the season.  Zach Duke pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout, Robert Stephenson pitched an inning with a strikeout and David Hernandez pitched a perfect inning. 

Pete Alonso drew a walk, Robinson Cano had a hit and Michael Conforto had a hit.  Wilson Ramos had a hit, Syndergaard had a hit and an RBI and Ramos hit a double.  Syndergaard hit a homerun and the Mets were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. 

Eugenio Suarez had a hit and drew a walk, Derek Dietrich had two hits and Jose Peraza had a hit.  The Reds were 0-1 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Lorenzen had a stolen base. 

The only run of the game was scored in the third inning on a Syndergaard solo homerun.  The Mets were able to salvage the four-game series by getting the split.  They will now head to Milwaukee for a weekend series.
