The New York
Yankees were defeated by the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday evening. The game took place at Chase Field in Phoenix,
Arizona and the final score was 3-2.
Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch well. The Yankees bullpen pitched well and no one
had more then one hit on offense.
Tanaka pitched
four innings giving up vie hits and three runs with a walk and six
strikeouts. Tanaka lost his third game
of the season. Luis Cessa pitched two
innings giving up a walk and he struck out three, Tommy Khanle pitched an
inning with a strikeout and Adam Ottavino pitched a perfect inning.
Merrill Kelly
pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up five hits and a run with two walks and two
strikeouts. Kelly won his third game of
the season. Yoshihisa Hirano pitched 2/3
of an inning with a strikeout, Yoan Lopez pitched 2/3 of an inning with a walk
and Andrew Chafin pitched 1/3 of an inning.
Archie Bradley pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk
and Greg Holland pitched an inning with a walk and saved his seventh game of the
season.
Brett Gardner
had a hit, Luke Voit had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Gary Sanchez had a
hit. Gleyber Torres had a hit, Mike Tauchman
had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Gio Urshela had a hit. Cameron Maybin had a hit and drew two walks,
Mike Ford drew a walk and Urshela and Torres each hit a double. Voit hit a homerun and the Yankees were 1-6
with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. Jarrod Dyson drew a walk, David Peralta had a
hit and Christian Walker had a hit. Ketel
Marte had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Nick Ahmed had a hit and an RBI and
Marte hit a double and a homerun. The
Diamondbacks were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left four men on
base. Jones committed an error.
In the second
Ahmed hit an RBI single and a wild pitch made it 2-0 Diamondbacks. In the fourth Marte hit a solo homerun to
push the lead to 3-0. In the sixth Voit
hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 3-1 and in the eighth Tauchman hit an RBI
single to make it 3-2 but that would be the final score.
The Yankees lost
both games to the Diamondbacks and will be off on Thursday before returning
home on Friday night vs. the Minnesota Twins.
