The New York
Mets defeated the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday afternoon. The game took place at Citi Field in
Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-2.
Steven Matz started for the Mets and he pitched well. The Mets bullpen also pitched well and Todd
Frazier had two hits to lead the offense.
Matz pitched
seven innings giving up five hits and two runs with no walks and four
strikeouts. Matz won his third game of
the season. Seth Lugo pitched an inning
with three strikeouts and Edwin Diaz saved his eighth game of the season
pitching an inning with a strikeout.
Gio Gonzalez pitched
five innings giving up six hits and two runs with a walk and two
strikeouts. Matt Albers pitched an
inning with two strikeouts, Jacob Barnes pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up an
unearned run and a walk with a strikeout and Alex Claudio pitched giving up a
hit and a walk without recording an out.
Aaron Wilkerson pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and two runs
with two walks and two strikeouts.
Jeff McNeil drew
a walk, Pete Alonso had a hit and Juan Lagares drew a walk. Frazier had two hits and an RBI, Wilson Ramos
had a hit and Brandon Nimmo had a hit and drew a walk. Amed
Rosario had a hit and an RBI, Michael Conforto drew two walks and Matz had a
hit. J.D. Davis had a hit and an RBI,
Tomas Nido had a hit and two RBI. Nido
and Rosario each hit a double. Alonso
hit a triple and the Mets were 3-11 with runners in scoring position and left
eight men on base.
Christian Yelich
had a hit, Ben Gamel had a hit and Mike Moustakas had two hits and two
RBI. Orlando Arcia had a hit, Moustakas
hit a homerun and the Brewers were 1-1 with runners in scoring position and
left one man on base. Gamel had a stolen
base and he committed an error. Gamel
also had an outfield assist.
In the first
Frazier hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 1-0 lead. In the second Rosario hit an RBI double and
it was 2-0 Mets. In the seventh
Moustakas hit a two-run homerun to tie the game at two. In the bottom of the seventh Davis hit an RBI
single giving the Mets a 3-2 lead. In the
eighth Nido hit a two-run double to push the Mets lead to 5-2 and that would be
the final score.
The Mets were able
to salvage the final game of the series after losing the first two. They will begin a four-game series at home on
Monday vs. the Reds.
